Ok i have a 1990 ford mustang GT, im going to be putting in a bigger Alt. i was woundering if a 200amp Alt. would be good enough for this set up.
Im running 2 Audiobahn Class D 1800 Watts rms amps. i dont know the model number off hand but i know there 1800 Watts rms. Each amp is going to a AWT12X sub. So that is what 3600 Watts rms all to gether. with a 3 fraud cap (cant spell that dang word). I also might be getting a yellow top battery, but that is not for a while. If you alll could help me and let me know if that is a big enough alt for that many watts, it would be great thanks.

If those amps actually put out their rated power (which they most likely won't), you would need a 350 amp alt just to keep up at full tilt. Of course if they actually put out their rated power they would blow those subs in a matter of seconds, so I guess it's alright

Those Subs are rated at 2000 Watts rms and 4000 peak. Dog

Hahaha "dog" you guys are making my day. What Sr is getting at is that the Audiobahn subs and amps are overrated, meaning they put out less than what they advertise.

Also, never pay attention to peak power as it is useless because your subs don't play in peak, rms is the accurate measurement, and if they do play in peak, it's only for like a sec, it's not constant.

Ok what ever you say. but back to my question, If i were to play 1000 Watts RMS then from each amp would the 200 amp alt. be big enough. Would my lights dim. Becuse right now my lights dim very badly.

if you were at an rpm where the alt was putting out full power then you should be alright, but at idle a 200 amp alt might only be putting out 50-100 amps, so you could still get some dimming. A stronger battery would help though
