I have a 1996 z28, and the check engine light comes on when the car is putting along. The car just does not want to go please help. after 2k rpms it is ok. I have never change any of the sensors. I just changed the air duct that goes to the intake, and it did not help. Please help thank you. I did change the spark plugs about a year ago. :naughty:

run it for codes and tell us what the xcode is, then we can help.

thank you, do I just go to autozone

some autozones can do it, personally i like to go to the dealership just because they know the cars better. rather than knowing a little bit about evey car. but thats my personal opinion, from what i hear autozone does a perfectly fine job.

tacoma you are mistaken, those codes are for OBD1 systems, OBD2 systems use four digit codes, the 117 is actually 0117, the 300 is actually 0300, and the 1416 is correct.
check this website all you OBD2-ers
http://camarossworld.com/Technical/Electrical/ODBII/
P0117 - Engine Coolant Temperature Circuit Low Input
P0300 - Random/Multiple Cylinder Misfire Detected
P1416 - Secondary Air Injection (AIR) System Bank 2 (GM)
id replace the coolant temp sensor, or at least check the wiring,
check your wires for a burnthough or loose connection, or something along those lines.
the secondary air injection malfunction is probly a faulty AIR valve, bank 2 means the passenger side.
these are all pretty general rules, but it should help a little.
