Im new to this forum so maybe you guys can help me out ive got somewhere around 5k to buy a car and ive always liked the 240s, but i favor the 95 - 98s more. Itd be good if you could tell me where a good place is to look for them and about all the avaliable engine swaps, i am particularily interested in those, nothing dramatic like a skyline swap i saw something in a thread about some engines you guys were droppin in if you could post which has the best turn outs and which ones get you the most bhp thatd be a huge help. No price limit as of now so dont worry about that part.

where do you live?? people seem to use www.autotrader.com

as far as engines go, there's beefing up the ka24 and slapping a turbo on it and getting up to ~500rwhp, how reliable it is, i dunno, probably pretty safe if tuned right

ca18det,good for if you don't want huge HP, and still relatively cheap, swap is pretty straight forward

sr20det, not much explanaition required since it's pretty damn popular, easy to find info

rb20det, sweet engine, rev happy, capable of some nice power, cheaper than sr20det, swap isn't hard if you get the right engine/x mounts

rb25det, pwnage, awesome, weee, oh my, hawt :naughty:, reasonable price, swap is about as hard as the rb20det, just need mounts which you can find at mckinney

i mentioned those skyline engines since they're not as dramatic as the rb26dett, which needs a lot of custom fab (not sure on that, but that's what i hear)

Read the FAQ. Can't help you about where to get a 240. Like he mentioned earlier, autotrader.com.

Hey could you guys tell me where i could get a KA engine for a 95 - 98 240 i found a couple and im pretty sure that im going to get one. Extremely excited thanks for all you help and if you could tell me where i could buy a KA and how to instal it that would be great.

ka's go on ebay, and junkyards, but why get another one if you have one in the first place, i recommend just rebuilding it with all the goodies (not like you wouldn't anyway, if you're going for some power) and make yourself a turbo kit

and for install, it's the oposite of taking it out, just get a FSM from the nissan dealership or some other book, like chilton's or whatever, they explain how to take the engine out and put it back in

hey im going to give you the best tip you will everget in this forum, the best place to get a KA engine, first buy the 95/98 240SX the park it in front of your house ..get out of the car.(smile because you looking at one of the gratest peice of work made by man) then go back into the car pop the hood and look under the hood. where you will find a KA24DE, and at no extra cost.

^ ment as a joke not a dis, but look at the FAQ for good engine sources but for the most hazle free build up the KA, maybe even a turbo.you can get a good 300WHP on just N/A 450WHP with a turbo.

Hmmm. I would like to see this 300whp na ka24de. Sorry but I don't think a 300whp na ka24de is very practical. I'm sure it's possible somewhere, but I have yet to see it. But turboing them is easy. Especially 1996 and newer.

why 1996 and newer?... whats wrong with turboing a 95?

He said 96 an newer because that's what the GReddy site says. 95 didn't have OBD-II, that's why.

Yeah the complete packaged turbo kits are for 96 and newer with the OBDII computers. There are no complete kits for 95 and older that I have found. It just makes things a little easier, that's all.

OBD-II is what they plug your car into at the garage to check engine codes and such.

I would personally go for the sr20det. They are very popular.

just like we've said in about 1 in 5 threads here, go with the engine that #1 you can afford and #1.5 best suits your wants..
rb's, sr's, ca's and turbo ka's all perform best in different scenereos.. track, drift, drag, street, etc

i dunno all I know is that mine has an OBGYN hooked up to the RSVP which controlls the extra power from the DP,I,H,E,EFI but what I really want is an FCON hooked up to an AVCR with a FCD so I can go ubar fast. also some TC, RAMS, RAS, TR, and some BYOB or BYOM would rock

D-Bo

Some after-market ECUs have a problem ajusting.

D-Bo
11-17-2004, 09:38 PM
so you plug in the obd-II to a computer and fix problems with the computer??

logik23
11-17-2004, 11:05 PM
No, the ECU tells the mechanic where the problem is so he doesn't have to check the whole car.
