Honda Prelude Big Problem

Hello,
Ill first start out saying that Honda is one of my favorite car makers today (so you people dont think im bashing on honda).

Well, it all started when i bought this 97 Honda prelude for a really good deal. It was legit, besides the fact that I so far have had nothing but bad luck with it. I mean, New Clutch, New tranny, Stripped Oil plug. I mean honestly thats just some shitty luck eh? Its only got 108k on the clock too.

Well theres a NEW problem, Its been about 3 months since the new tranny, and im not sure if this is related but ill go ahead and shoot out the symptoms.

(97 honda prelude SH 5speed)
Well When i bang through gears only reving up to ~2800rpm I dont really have a problem, Yet if i EVER go past 2800 in any gear my car rumbles. When I say rumbles. I mean it feels like theres a beast in my engine bay trying to get out. I mean so bad it vibrates that i cant hold onto the stearing wheel.

My imediate guess is, POSSIBLY one of the spark plugs are done? Does this make any sence. ANY HELP would be greatly appreciated.

Without being able to hear what your engine sounds like when it's rumbling, I'd guess motor mount? Does the engine sound like it's misfiring?

you cant hear much over the vibrations. Any insights?

i had a probe gt that use to do that and like gohan ryu said it was a motor mount...it was only being held by one and it had fallin against my right strut tower and was just trembling the car violently as like you described

My guess too is a motor mount, sounds like something is definitly out of place. You should be able to look at your engine and tell if one of the mounts is snapped or bent. I dont think it has anything to do with your spark plugs, you would notice a difference in performance and your engine RPMS would be off.

Open the hood and look at the engine while you have someone sit in the car and rev the engine. If it's a bad motor mount you'll definitely see it or hear it better with the hood open. Don't rev the engine from under the hood with the throttle linkage - if it's a bad mount the engine will torque and twist the damn thing right out of your hand.

today, I changed the spark plugs, no go.

So then i had the hood open, and reved the engine and the engine stayed put.

So I really dont understand what it could be. I also noticed when I press the gas AT ALL, i get the rumble. YET if i get up to any speed and let off the gas and let the rpms slowly drop down, then theres no rumble...

I really dont know what it is!????

well it could possibly be a flywheel or clutch issue. one of them out of balance. that or the tranny itself could be goin out. it is kinda hard to say.
duz it sound like metal on metal?

Does it only happen when you're in gear and the car is moving? If you were at a stop and out of gear does it happen?

In gear.

Only happens when you're in gear? If it doesn't make any distintive metallic clanking or grinding sounds I would suspect the transmission mount...especially since it was recently worked on. Might still be the motor mounts, since the torque load on the engine is different when your in gear as opposed to out of gear, the mounts might only give when the car is in gear.
