I took the block in to get it honed. They said it would be better to bore. Pits are to deep might not come out with a hone. So now it is being bored out 30 over. Now I need a set of piston and rings. A head gasket set. Any ideas on place to buy? 94 4.6 Also bought 2 new cams for it. Had the heads checked and fixed if needed. So I am pretty close to putting it back together. Man oh man :screwy:

Hate to say it, but that's the risk of pulling an engine apart. I rebuilt a 3.8 less than 5000 miles ago and it spun 2 bearings. Not sure exactly why because the tolerances are where they are supposed to be but I have to do it all over again....

The 4.6 is a really difficult motor to go into. I've seen a lot of people having serious issues with them especially revolving around the cam.

I know the feeling. I had plenty of problems trying to align this thing. But I know how to do it now. So hopefully it will work out good. Considering how much I am sinking into this thing.

sorry to butt in with a useless question, but did you mean those are the kind of problems you might run into just from taking apart and rebuilding an engine? I was thinking about taking mine apart and rebuilding it, kind of as a learning experience, and kind of because I think theres something wrong in there, but I dont know what, and I cant afford to have somebody check every little detail, but anyways....is that what you meant?
