on the stock turbo gauge in the vr-4 with stock pressure, how high on the gauge does it go up to? i dont know this cuz when i bought it the guy had his set to fifteen and i never got up there to see what it was. What is the stock psi per turbo?and to what number on the gauge does it go up to?

If you read the FAQ, you would already know the answers to this.
First off, it doesn't matter what the stock gauge shows...it is POS that isn't worth the plastic it's made of
Secondly, stock boost levels are ~ 9psi for 91-93s
and ~ 11 or 12 psi for 94-99s

yeah whats um pos mean? and it doesnt say if the 9 psi is for both or one. so wait the stock gauge reads one or two turbos? I have an aftermarket one they both work the same. and how do i take off that part in the wastegate solenoid for the free boost? i tried with a paper clip, wont come out. And how loud is your greddy type s. attentiongetter?

haha
how come i never understood that. haha
so yeah but does it read for one turbo or both cuz my gauge at full throt shows like 7-8psi. I dont know if its for both or for one. I got that stupid plug out of the solenoid tho. Does it really work? ill find out tomorrow.

It's for both.

shit so im only running 8 psi thats shitty. So a stock vr4 should show 14 psi full throttle? f

Thats where it can peak if you set it with a MBC, so no stock won't run that high and you won't run that high till redline.

so what should my boost gauge be reading at then for my 92 VR-4 on stock psi like at full throttle and psi all the way up. What should it be showing me 8 or sixteen

just to clarify, if both turbos are pushing 8 psi each, then its is also 8psi total. You dont add PSI, you add CFM. So one turbo will push 200cfm, and both will push 400cfm.

yeah but like so the turbo gauge reads all to gether pressure or like what each turbo is putting out
like should it read like if both are pushing out eight then the gauge should read 8. So if i boost it up to fourteen like they say, it will be fourteen each turbo and read fourteen on the gauge rite

If you had a stock gauge and stock psi, you would see it go to 14psi...any guage shows what both turbos are pushing...they are both pushing that psi, but you don't add it...so yours are both pushing 8psi, but that doesn't mean you are making 16 or 4, it means both are at 8psi.

Now the stock turbos, cannot handle over 10psi to redline...they aren't big enough. So with an aftermarket gauge, but with stock turbos and stock boost settings, you should be seeing it go up to 9 or 10. If you are never boosting past 8 psi, then you probably have a boost leak, or leaking wastegate, as 6-7 is wastegate pressure.

Follow the instructions for the free boost mod..(in FAQ)...if you can't get it to work then keep trying.

And the Greddy BOV is just a bit louder than stock. It makes a noticeable noise, it is great, and people notice if they are near by, but it isn't loud adn obnoxious.

ok, let me give this a try

do not go by the stock boost gauge. The stock boost gauge is activated by an electrical wire in which if i'm not mistaken, is connected somewhere around the MAS. Basically, when your car starts to suck in more air, it just throws an electrical response up to the stock gauge to say that more air is coming in so the gauge needs to rise, but it does not know how much exactly so it just randomly throws up a number. In one of my friend's VR-4s, he will sit there and just accelerate a little bit, and the stock gauge goes up to 14 psi like you are driving a car with a small ball bearing turbo, i mean, bam, its up at the top at 14 psi on a stock car . . . . dont think so. This is why you get an aftermarket gauge, especially if you're going to raise the boost.

As far as the turbos, here is an explanation. Your engine only has a certain amount of capacity to suck in a certain amount of air. When the turbos spool, it creates pressure and starts forcing air into the heads which creates postive pressure a.k.a. boost.

Now, when it comes down to the pressure the turbos make, think of it as a single turbo at a time, lets say a GSX eclipse. The the compressed air has a certain path to travel through to get into the 4 cylinder engine, in which whatever pressure that air is at is how much PSI the turbo is making. In our car, 3 cylinders drive each turbo through intercooler piping, 1.75 inches in diameter if i'm not mistaken, flowing, in this example, enough air to create 10 lbs of boost. Well, each turbo is creating 10 lbs, and both sets of intercooler piping connects together into a y-pipe thats 3.5 inches in diameter, so the ratio is exactly the same. Your boost controller and aftermarket gauges run off the y-pipe right before it hits the throttle body because that is the most accurate spot.

Stock turbos are known to only hold 10 psi to redline, however, they can hold up to 14 psi to redline by relieving all back pressure and intake restrictions, which all would include LS6 MAFT set up, gutted precats, no cat converter, and aftermarket downpipe.
