Hey Guys!- great amount of info in here but still stuck.

In the last month, this car went from running ok to almost not running. I shouldn't say that, it runs great at an idle. It will not rev above 3500 in park(not that the engine is ever revved like that- just a check) and goes from zero to 60 in about 1.5 min. New plugs, wires, fuel filter, etc. No fouls smells or misfire at idle, all the vac hoses and wiring has been checked over(no nicks cuts burns, corrosion at plugs, etc.) When you piull away-1/2 throttle- 1-20 in about 6 sec. from there its a mess. anything above 1/2 throttle it bogs out,(won't die, just flattens out) and letting off the gas between shifts is about the only way to accelerate. No trans slippage whatsoever- just flat acceleration. got a p0404 trouble code, however the obdll scanner shows no catylist or h02 sensor reading at anytime(not ready signal) I hooked it to both the other gm vehicles I have (1997 Silverado and 1998 Chevy express) and the scanner shows all functions operstive- all available and ready. I got taken for a $105. diagnostic at Firestone to tell me the egr was bad- and in addition to that I needed $1700. more work beyond the egr at 400 to diagnose the problem.(Radiator seal leak,Intake manifold gasket[no vac or co-mingling anywhere-just a small oil leak below the fuel injector pressure regulator] and the pressure regulator they said was leaking(not!) above the oil leak. This flatline is making me nuts and the car is a real hazzard. Never gonna go on the expressway like this, but puttering around is killing me. Any ideas what to look for- or is the pcm possibly faulty? Any insight would be appreciated. Thanks IA!

Sounds like you may have a plugged catalytic converter.Might want to take it by an exhaust shop and have them test it.Also another thing that it could be is a bad oxygen sensor.

In my '98 GP GT warranty information, it says the catalytic converter is one of those parts that are guaranteed for 8 yrs/80,000 miles, Federal emission coverage.

Did you check to see if yours was covered under warranty?

Dont forget to replace the O2 sensor since that is what can cause a lean problem and melt the cat.Glad everything worked out for you!Make sure you dont use Bosch and try and get an AC-Delco O2
