Memory for my Aftermarket CD Player

I just put a CD player in my 1983 Scottsdale and it dosn't have any memory i have to reset everything once i turn the truck on - how the heck do i fix this?

you might need to buy a new wiring harness for it, the same thing happened in my 84 sierra

That sounds pretty major how much do u think that costs and how much time am i going to have to put into it?

on the new head unit there should be two power wires and one ground. Most of them are yellow & red and the ground is black. If this is what you have then the yellow is the memory and the red is power from the ignition. The memory wire should be connected to a constant 12V+ supply. The red sould be hooked to the ignition switch.

yea, do what he said b4 getting the wire harness, but they only cost about 15 bucks

Just run a fused power wire from the battery or fuse box (constant power) to the yellow lead on the stereo, That should fix it.
