05 problems

looking for advice or comments.

I had a 2002 Chevy Silverado Z71, bought it new but got rid of it due to the constant piston slap, tranny and other quality problems.

I am looking into a new 05 GMC Sierra Z71 5.3 . Ive heard they are night and day from the previous yrs.

Is the piston slap issue resolved and how would you rate these new trucks. Has GM finaly decided to put more into the quality and stop using the phrase "Common characteristic of the vehicle" as an excuse for everything? Im a little gun shy right now, but love the look of the truck.

Any replies would be appreciated
Thanx

Ok Maybe i should reword this.
Lets include the 04's in it also.

Any piston slap problems still surfacing in the 04's .

And what about drive line clunk from the yolk when shifting from 1st to 2nd.

I would realy like to hear from some people who own them on the quality and especialy piston slap.

I have a new 2004 Sierra crew cab 4x4. Engine pings with regular unleaded, have to run the mid-grade stuff. Driveline definitely still has clunks especially when shifting from 2nd to 3rd, 3rd to 2nd, and D to R or R to D. I would not buy another. I had a 94 Sierra 4x4 regular cab and sold it with 180K, never had a problem. The newer ones are sharp looking, but the beauty is only external. Cheap interiors, especially the seats and headliner, noisy air compressor and drive line clunks. Should have bought a Titan!
