Hello everyone!
I have a 2000 elantra and both outer CV boots are worn out.The grease is spreading out already so I purchased the new boots.
I'm about to do it myself but I was wondering if anybody has any advices.Do I have to remove the cv shaft from the transmission for this job or not?I really hope not.Do I need any special tools?
Thanks!

did you get a boot kit? in the boot kit from hyundai you get everything you need, including new grease which is IMPORTANT. i dont know if you have to remove the shaft from the tranny. i would see if i could just get it disconnected from the hub without messing with the other end. if you have to though, here is a instruction page. looks like you will need a special tool or two.

Nope! I wish.
I have 105,000 miles already. That will be covered only up to 60,000 miles(bumper to bumper).

Hello again!
I replaced the boots.I just wanted to let you know that there is no need to remove the shaft from the transmission,in order to replace the outer boots. It si necessary though to remove the shaft from the hub and to disconect the tierod end and the balljoint.

Just wondering about the vehicle mileage so I can anticipate for my cv boot replacement.
