Starting Problems

\Lately Ive been having starting problems. Most of the time I only get a tick sound. Sometimes it tries starting but will quit right in the middle of me trying to start it. Usually it will start after a few tries, sometimes I have no problem at all, but sometimes it wont start at all UNLESS I do something weird like turn on my fan or turn off my rear defrost. I dont know if this is a coincidense or not but seems awfully strange if you ask me! Any suggestions??? THanx!
