getting more tourque out of a WRX

i currently have a stock wrx 02, only things modded to it are the follows:

carbon fiber hood + air scoop
cold air intake
custom 6" exaust
short throw shifter
18" motegi racing wheels with Falcon racing tires (low profile)

everythign else is stock.

what can i do to the car thats relitively cheap, to get the most tourque out of it at lower REV's.

basically, the car is sluggish until i hit 3500 RPM's, after 3500 its running smooth, then when i hit 4000 rpm's the car kicks ass, i put my foot down a little and the car pulls mayjor buttocks.
i want that kind of pickup at lower rpm's , like say 2000 rpm's.

i may be asking the impossible for that much tourque at 2k rpm's but im not sure on the specs of my boost or psi or how many pounds of tourque im getting at 2000 or 4000 revolutions.

so what can i buy to give me more power at lower revs?

also, what brand of anti-sway bars would you sugguest?
and does it really help with the understeer?

any sugguestions or links would be apreciated, thanks.

Ditch the CAI and throw on a manual boost controller. The CAI hurts throttle response, and doesn't really help anything other than sounding neat. A manual boost controller, even without raising the boost, will make the turbo spool faster.

I have a Whiteline 24mm adjustable rear sawy bar, and it makes a HUGE difference in the understeer. Best mod I did to the car for the money.

A friends WRX has STi strut top mounts and Whiteline steering bushings, and his steering feel is soo nice, that's gonna be my next mods.

custom 6 inch exhaust eh....its a subaru...not a school bus. also...its FALKEN not falcon. i suggest you learn your car before you mod. youll be much happier in the end.

wow, didn't notice the 6' exhaust. That's wild. Surely you're just talking about the muffler, right? I can't imagine even fitting 6' piping under there.

lol, yes, just the muffler.

im only stating what i was told by subaru after i took it for an inspection to see what was modded.

ive looked under the car to compare with a factory wrx, the exhaust pipe is fat, unlike the factory one wich is thin, mines about 4 inches wide all the way down.

the manual boost controller sounds like a good idea.
can you go into detail on this?
what kind of money is this going to cost, and what is it exactly?
how does it operate?

ive had my car for a while now and have gotten used to how it drives and operates, and im not to keen on upgrading it to be super fast like 350hp + and stuff.
just from my driving experience, all that i want more out of it, is more push at lower revs, and a bit more over steer.
other than that the cars perfect, doesnt need anything more.

still....a six inch muffler outlet is insane. 3 inch is the largest....and even a 3 inch is pushin it. 3 inch is probably what you have on your exhaust, not 4 inch. 3 inch is still pushing it for a stock engine. it would kill your back pressure, and in turn kill your torque.

you probably have 3" pipe under there. 4" is downright huge, like it should be coming out of a Silverado or an SRT-10, and even then it's big since they have dual exhaust.

I would love to have a manual boost controller on my WRX, but it would take me out of DS. :(

wrx's dont have to worry about backpressure hardly once the turbo is boosted. i run just my straight downpipe when i drag race at the track and i still have good pressure. .3 sec drop in the 1/4 on the first run with it done.

Just adding an up pipe(maybe it was a downpipe-not sure)without a cat will greatly reduce turbo lag. One of my buds had one on his car and is very happy with it

17's or smaller are better for that low end acceleration, but Montegi's are usually fairly lightweight. 6" inch outlet is absurd, and I highly doubt you have a 4" exhaust pipe. If it is bigger than 2.5 - 3, go back. Keep the CAI, it's good for 3-5 hp. You can try and trim weight like unneeded stuff.

for the most part a CAI will hurt performance by makeing the car lean, and it can screw with the mass air sencer, so i would say go back to you stock intake, and sell your CAI.

CAI = bad for WRX (unless your engine is way more modded than I think it is)
