Laws???

I was wondering if anyone knew some of the laws against engine upgrading, ie. illegal turbocharging etc. I was curious for my own sake and I'm also writing a paper about that subject at my university. Any help would be appreciated.

I don't think turbo is illegal. I do know that race headers are illegal in some states. Any mods that cause the car to fail emissions testing. You can also be ticketed for "excessive noise" due to aftermarket exhaust components. Pretty sure nitrous is a no no too...
