Trying to get rid of slight rubbing

After getting my new tires on the only real problem was a very slight rubbing right around the two inside screws of the mudlfaps on either side during a full over wheel turn. After taking the mudflaps off I see that they are rubbing right up against some plastic that looks to be capping off some metal . I don't think spacer/adapters will fix that problem, they may, but it seems to me if i just had another 1" of body lift it would all be settled. Here's a pic of the exact spot (you can see the rubber black mark on it) it rubs on both sides. Pic is of the driver side.

I just found out that right behind my arrow there is where one would perform the "pinch-weld" mod. Has anyone done this, and is it easy to perform?

Here's a link for those who might not know what the hell I'm talking about: http://www.customtacos.com/tech/index.php?page=index_v2&id=9&c=3

That looks like it's gotta be about the easiest fix to do nothing more than a box cutter and a medium sized ballpeen hammer Toyota steel is some pretty thin stuf so your probably not looking at a whole lot of work.

I just went out and performed the "pinch-weld" thing today and wow is all I can say. It took maybe five minutes to get both sides done and it completely solved the problem! Perfect fix!
