You might be best off with a re-ring kit depending on how bad it is. Does it burn oil ?

if i park it on a hill and leave it in gear, it will turn over the engine quite easily. if i leave the pvc valve where it should be it pushes oil out the rear main and a few other areas. but no, it really doesnt seem to burn the oil, just leaks it with pvc installed.
I dont loose coolant anywhere and it will hold pressure no prob.
i had the oil pan off it and the rod bearing are pretty beat too.
the more that i have been thinkijng about it the more i realize that i should tear it down and give er a look first.

I don`t know of any "crate" 258s but you should be able to get a rebuilt one through a parts store. If I were you I`d check at some machine shops to see how much they would charge to rebuilt it for ya.
