735i alarm problem

Hi all,
My name is Matt, I own an 89 735i, and love it,,er,, till recently.
Problem is this, came out one morning to leave for work, went to start my car and the alarm starts going off, this really confused me because I've owned the car for more than a year now, and never even knew it had an alarm,I mean I knew it did, but had never heard it or set it off (I have no key fob, just a key). Anyway, alarm goes off for about 2-3 minutes, and resets itself. try to start it again, same thing, alarm goes off, then resets itself. Oh, and the car never starts.
So, I figure I'll try to bypass the alarm, ya know, gotta get my car going, and don't use the alarm anyway. I came across a main positive lead coming right off the battery, (not the battery cable, but a second lead coming off the same post), I disconnected it and wala, my car starts, no alarm, but now I have NO accesories, windows, interior lights, stereo, mirrors, door locks, nothing. And I can't trace the alarm to save my life, I've got a chiltons for an 89 535, but there wasn't one available for a 7 series, and the electrical diagrams don't correspond at all.
If anyone at all can give me any insight into this, it would be a huge help, either where the alarm block is located or how to reset it, or bypass it, or even an accurate wiring diagram would be great.
Any help would be great, thanks all, Matt

I have found this site to be very helpful for things like that. (It's not a link, you will have to copy and paste the address)

Hey Redhed, thanks for the advice, didn't find quite what I was looking for, but I now know the info is out there.
Any idea how to find the location ofelectrical harnesses?

Resetting/rebooting the car's computers has been said to fix a good number of wierd BMW problems. The following link has a RESET procedure. Some of it is in German but don't panic. The RESET procedure is in English as well. Make sure you know your radio code before doing this.
