oil filter seal blows at start

got it rebuilt and after the first oil change the oil filter keeps blowing the seal its a 3.8 front whl drive 86 lasabre changed oil at first five hundred miles ,the rebuilder said he is not respnsible ,that the lube place is because the filter was loose , but i put 300 miles on it that nite and it was fine till the next mornin then it blew the seal , so the rebuilder picked it up and another 175.00 went bye bye but the next day it blew again at start up , whats going on ?? anybody?? ive got 4 1/2 qts of oil on the ground again, a new motor ? i wonder ??.

Sounds like the rebuilder is responsible. He must have plugged the return line for the oil. That would be my opinion. I can't really be sure, but that sounds like the problem. What was wrong that it needed to be rebuilt? It wasn't the turbocharged one, right? The bracket that the oil filter screws on to comes off rather easily, and that may very well be where the clog is.

The rebuilder may have messed up the pressure relief valve for the oil filter. Above a certain pressure the oil bypasses the filter. It would make sense that the oil filter seal blows when the engine is cold, the cold oil would generate a higher pressure

Yep, someone put the wrong line in the wrong place. LOL Look for kinks, I can just see them "that's not bent too bad, eh, it'll be fine."

More reasons why I don't let anyone else touch my car. And if that means I break it, at least I know what I did to break it so I can fix it. Plus, it's just more fun.

You could also try using a PF52 filter instead, and see if that helps. It is a larger filter, so it might be able to handle the higher pressure better. The pressure relief valve should be located in that arm for the filter, so if that is the problem, all you would have to do is switch it with a different one. If you do that, make sure to replace the gasket, unless you want oil leaks.
Still curious as to why you got it rebuilt. That may point to a different spot altogether.
