i just got my 2000 gt eclipse about 1 month 1/2 ago. at first it drove nicely. but after a while when ever i went from park to reverse there was a sharp grinding noise then a clicking noise. then i started to notice clicking noises as i started to drive. ( oh my car is sportronic). it sounded like something was in the axle or my tire was hitting something so i took it back to the dealer. they said there was something loose in the transmission. well it was fixed and it was driving good again, but latelly when i shift from park to reverse it makes the sound again. if anyone has any clue what the problem might be please let me know. its really embarassing when ever i pull out of a parking lot and people hear it.

take it back to the dealer, and to stop screwing with you. ask them exatly whats wrong and what they fixed in it, the go to a differnt dealer and have them look at it. if its the same thing make sure they fix it correctly, if not ask for your money back. if they refuse co to corporate. worked fo me when the replaced my MAP sensor 3 times. fucking assholes! grrrrrrrrrrrrr. i hate dealerships!

I have the same problem... I just read 400+ replies in a thread about this problem. No one had one specific solution... but there were about 4 given.

Any new updates on this damn stop/start metallic clicking noise?

i already have the problem with the 5spd, but it dont seem half as bad as what this guy is describing. also, the 5spd can be fixed by changing to a different transmission oil. not fixed, but can make it barely noticable

yea I been having the same problem with my 2001 Gs .... some people says its the lifters ... I have had the oil changed .... I put SeaFoam into the oil which is suppose to unstick lifters .... The car don't make any noises at low rpms but once at 2.5+ it starts making the clicking sounds... I didn't get many replys before when I posted.
