not sleeping.....again

Well....this is the second night it looks like I"m not sleeping. I've tried almost everything that there is, right down to sleeping pills. I won't take perscription due to problems that I've had with them but nothing is even touching me. I just want to sleep. Anyone else up tonight with the same problem? or know how I can sleep...It's not even like I'm tired...Whats wrong with me?

i have the same problem i lay in bed for hours just trying to fall asleep. Tylenol PM used to work and so did nyquil but not anymore, i cant sleep for the life of me

They have doctors for this you know, go to a sleep clinic and have one of them diagnose you.

Yeah, if you're worried about something that will keep you up. Aside from the chemical suggestions made previously, usually some exercise, even a 1/2 hour walk will help out.

ohh sleep i found the greatest thing for that, its called Simply Sleep, its made by tylenol and its not tylenol PM. This stuff works wonders, im suprised you dont need a prescription for this shit.

I have the same problem with not being able to sleep. One thing i do is when im just staring at the celing close your eyes and contract every muscle one at a time starting with your toes then calves then stomach etc. keep doing this with all your muscles and eventually they will all relax and you will start to feel sleepy....at least it works with me, and if that doesnt work then i usually do the vicodin and bourbon

I'm sober now (a month now, I think. but that's a whole different thread) so that, unfortunately, isn't an option anymore.

Do heroin...nah sorry. Good luck on the sobriety shit byt the way I'm in that too right now. Are you doing the AA thing? I am. My best advice is see a doctor, or less majorly, whatch what you do during thay daytime that might hinder you sleeping at night. Alot of ppl that quit alcohol turn to smoking or caffiene - replacing one addiction with another so watch your caffeine intake also I know you always have stress, so it's always good to solve the problems of your day B4 you got to bed...if you got stuff on your mind thats keeping you preoccupied, of course your noty gonna get sleep. I would try something different. Do not have anything in your body (caffeine, sleeping pills, alcohol, anything) and then try it. Make sure that you don't have any of that for an entire day before you try sleeping. Hopefully this might help you.

A long night of hanky panky leaves me pretty tired.

If not, then party all night and go to work the next morning. If you continue this for long enuf, your body will want rest.

You can even do a combination of hanky panky and parting all night. If it doesn't work, you'll have good times to show for your trouble.

yeah take the least amount of sleeping pills you can, it's not good for you. I'd go into it, but I don't feel like typing out that much. Do research, it basically takes away your REM which is the sleep that makes you rest.

Other tips for falling asleep: read a book until you get tired. Reading books makes your eyes tired, and then you have to close it, then bam you fall asleep. In front of the computer until you get sleepy is not a good idea. Another idea is to watch something educational but boring on TV, it's like watching a professor lecture, you just want to sleep.

Don't use your bed for anything but sleeping and sex. No reading in bed, no nothing but sleeping and sex. Thats one of the things a sleep specialist will tell you, and it does help.

Also, turkey contains natural chemicals that make you drowsy and aren't bad for you. Forget what they're called. So go eat a couple turkeys.

I have almost the same problem...I'll go to bed around 10 and fall asleep around 3 or 4 and wake up right at 7:30 to go to school. It's been like that since school started back up...it really sucks.

When I can't sleep, I just put my diskman on a real low level and listen to that, eventually I start paying no attention to the music and thats when I turn it off and fall asleep within about 5 minutes...

I used to have the same problem, especially the few weeks back after holidays. Still do, just not as bad...

I've decided that if I don't sleep tonight, I'm gonna go see a dr...This is terrible. Like ya know when your eyes just want to close so you can sleep? Well my eyes are like that but my brain is like "i'm not tired yet" so i'm all confused...Later today I might try walking like someone had suggested and if that doesnt work... oh well, I'll just stay up for another night...Thanks again for everything!

well...the past 2 nights I've slept a total of 45 minutes I think. and for probably a week before that I couldnt sleep more than 2-3 hours...Since I don't sleep, I clean. I swear its probably so sterile right now you could do surgery in here.

j/p But seriously when i cant sleep i just turn on a video game and play it. Puts me right out. If you still cant sleep it would be in your best interest to talk to a doctor; because thats just not healthy.

Unfortunately it sounds like you're trying too hard to fall asleep so it's basically a mental issue now. Your best bet would to see a doctor before it gets worse. You can't live a happy life with no sleep so it's best to take care of it now before it becomes a life long struggle.

My mom's a nurse and my step-dad is a neurologist. I'll call them up this weekend and ask them what kind of treatments are available for this condition. :)

I saw your picture in the photo thread and don't see how meeting some one could be a problem for you. Find some one to spend your time with. If all else fales, find a Marine, we never turn down a woman. That should take care of the next couple of nights. Hope this helps.

I mean i could understand if you were out partying all the time and getting drunk, god knows i have done that plenty of times, but not getting any sleep just because you can't....There's probably a medical solution to it that you need to see a doctor about. Then again, have you tried Swigz idea and drinking a lot of Nyquil, seems to work for everyone, if that doesn't work get a dr.

You should do more research, talked to a pharmasist, and he said while this is true, you would have to take more than the recomended amount for EVERY DAY for about 20 years before there was any real damage done to your liver. Seriously, there are other ways we damage our liver alot more and quicker then tylenol, usually after we turn 21.

Also, im sorry to hear that you cant sleep. the hankey pankey works for me if im having trouble sleeping, but also does just being with my gf. even being with my friends a little bit helps. find something you like to do with your friends and do that at night, just like watch tv. i've had many nights where i didnt feel tired at 11, but after watching tv with a couple of my friends, i was asleep 15 minutes later.

Also, i would say seeing a doctor wouldnt be a bad idea, that should help you more than anything else if nothing else seems to be working

I haven't been paying attention to this theard but you could try staying up for an entire night and then go to bed at a normal time the next night, but don't nap during the day. It works for some people.

I figured out why I'm not sleeping...Now the question is, do I sleep? or do i stay stressed/depressed and have major anxiety? Personally, I'd rather live with not sleeping over the depression and anxiety any day....Thanks again for all of your help. It's greatly appreciated.

drugs and booze will never work! and if they do its only temporary. They just lead to harsher consequences. You need to find out what is causing the stress in your life, and make up for mistakes! Just keep asking yourself what u gotta do, and a solution will arise. I usually wake up around 2-4am, and its really hard to get back to sleep. This is when i get out of bed and walk the streets until i find a better state of mind. Sometimes i lay on park benches to get fresh air into me. But not a lot of ppl are comfortable doing that shit.

Anyways, sound like u might have had some trouble in your past. Maybe this is kharma coming back to settle odds? And telling yourself to sleep only makes it worse... keep ur chin up.
