okay this is the last one for now, and its actually a problem.
my car has a pretty rough idle. not always, but about 99.9% of the time. i guess every now and then it likes to run smooth for me. i know of a couple ways to try and fix this on other cars but im not sure if they would have the same effect on a 94 bird. the first method i know of is to take off the throttle body and give it a good cleaning. and the other way is to clean the MAF. will either of tese help me out or is there something else i should try. if cleaning the throttle body or MAF will work, how should i go about doing that? any help is always appreciated

i would try dumping in some fuel injector cleaner, if that doesnt help it sounds like you may have a spark plug fouling out.

i used injector cleaner and that didnt do anything for me. so i replaced all the spark plugs and wires and im still having the same problem. the upside is that after changing the plugs and wires im averaging 22-24 mpg. a lot better than the 18 i was getting. still has the rough idle though...

hmm i hate problems like this, does the engine knock or ping under acceleration?

nope. i only have the problem at idle. sometimes it hesitates when i take off, but i dont know if that is related to this problem or not. the only bad sound coming from the engine is the ticking from the lifters. i agree with ya though, these problems are frustrating
