94 prelude S-what you all think?

Hey. Looking for a prelude for my first car and I found this car.

1994 Prelude S
153k
5 spd
Midnight Blue
Power windows
Power steering
Sunroof
TIlt wheel etc. etc. etc....

Mods-
Cold air intake
Neuspeed Spark plugs n wires
Catback exhaust system
Altezza light(if i'm not mistaken)

Kids lookin' to get $3500. Sound like a good deal? I thought so but more importantly, with your knowledge of these cars being much higher than mine, what do you all think the car is pulling in hp? I know a stock S has 135hp and the next one up, the SI has 160hp. How close to 160 do you think this car is pushing? thx for all the responses in advance

also, if ya'll tell me how, I can post a few pics, I jsut can't figure out how at the moment lol

To tell you the truth, the S is an Accord hiding in a Prelude's Skin. The S shares the same motor as the Accord. Intake and Exhaust probably gave you a ~5-10whp gain

i bought my si for $2500...and when it went out for another $2500 i bought a new h22a engine (almost knew only 5k miles on it) so i have $5000 in my car and only 6500k miles on it now...maybe that will help w/ prices

maybe its where you live because here, 3500 for a 94 is a steal. I've seen a couple 92 si's for 3200 and 3500 but this car looks to be in real good shape. Found a 92 red si for $3200 but I'm worried where I found it is a bad spot.

if you plan on upgrading then i would keep looking until you find a vtec or si...if you just want i nice looking car and dont plan on upgrading go ahead and get the S. when i bought mine the h23 was burning oil pretty bad thats how i got it for pretty cheap but i was planning an engine swap so it wasnt a big deal

I just sold my 92 prelude with an f22a6 from a 93 accord which have 140 hp and 147 lbs.-ft. of tq. for $2100. Buying an S with that many miles for that much money is a rip-off. It better be in damn good condition for that price. Especially considering the fact that mine only ran a 17.03 in the quarter unmodified. And I ate up accords and preludes with f22a1's all day. You gotta love the torque though. I pulled on my buddy with a 99 civic si until the end of third gear!

if your area doesn't have good prices then maybeit would be worth looking a little farther away? if you find one for a really good deal it might be worth thr drive to get it or even have it shipped. i just don't like to chain myself down to local cars when i am in the market.

If you are going to be looking at a few cars, then pay the $25 and get a 30-day unlimited Carfax account. I've been looking for the past month and there are a lot of people out there who are liars or have previously been misled about their cars.

If you don't want to spend the money to have a dealer do a pre-purchase inspection, see if you can borrow or rent a compression tester to know how tight the engine is. Other than that, everything is pretty much visual. You should just assume that the clutch and timing belt are due, unless there are receipts.

I've been looking within a 50 mile radius of my area because it isn't worth the trip for a 3500 car you know? THis price is kinda how much they are all going for these days in my area.

I bought my 92 lude types S for $1000, with 153k miles...so think about it. thanks god for that car!! It's very slow compare to the 2.2 vetc, but excellent for show off. The car was not in excellent conditions when I bought it at least it was running without any problem, but now after a year it's like new. The paint was ok, but I did paint job on it anyways. I had to fix some parts, but I spent like $400 (Genuine Honda Parts). :-) I LOVE MY LUDe! "u should pray for a better price"

im selling my 94 vtec, odo reads 220 but there was a rebuild at 170 and i have a head from my '01 with 60k on it i could throw in depending on the price. the miles are almost exclusively hwy, previous owner used to drive to canada from GA or CA about once a month so i know its hwy miles. almost stock (CAI) and vtec kicks in hard, runs great. pm me if ne1 is interested and make me an offer
