Hi guys, i have a 1995 Isuzu Rodeo and the engine has been knowcking for some time now. I tried most of the suggestions I found in posts here but it still knocks (pretty loud too). I have changed gas types, flushed the engine, changed the filter and switched to a lighter oil and this does not help.
Someone suggested that I change the bearings. What do you guys think? Is there anything else I can do to stop the knocking or an oil additive maybe?
Thanks for the help...

It might help to know what kind of knocking it is. If its a valve tap, try switching to a slightly thicker oil, but just go one step.
If its an ignition knock, like pinging, it could be the EGR valve, ignition timing, or excessive carbon buildup.
If its a physical engine knock like a bearing or piston, bad news. Its a full teardown and rebuild. You might be able to get away for several thousand more miles with just bearings, but either way you're looking at a bottom end rebuild and might as well do it right and just do the whole thing.
