Gas Mileage

i have a 98JGC Limited 5.9 (360ci) i have ran true duals with 40 series flows and a K&N FIPK. It is also all wheel drive. it commutes about 10 highwaymiles and 10 miles in congested traffic twice a day. i average 18.8 on my overhead calculator. it has 79000 miles.

Just curious as to what mileage you guys get. i didnt get a good average for my driving before the fipk and exhaust but when i bought it it averaged mid 13s.

18.8 on a 5.9 sounds really good to me. I run a 5.2 at 13.5. I got to get some of your equip and boost mine!

yea same here, your 5.9 putting out 19 mpg, thats very good, right now mine reads 13.3 in my 5.2L

19 MPG on a 5.9? Holy gawd, is your commute downhill both ways with a tail wind?

My 5.2 would eek out 14 at best, 11 with my sea doos behind it.

good to know my money helped. i did close to the same to my 2000 silverado 2500 i used and helped drastically on highway but not much city.
i dumped about $600 in the first few weeks on the jeep on this equipment. bad news is i traded it and my silverado off and got me a new truck so i have to go through the same thing with this.

FYI-
My GC 5.9 is bone stock and usually gets 13-14 around town BUT on the highway (going the speed limit) we see 18 consistantly. The pipes and FIPK are expensive and probably help some, but in my opinion isn't worth the cost unless you run exclusively in-town and/or push it hard.
Keeping the engine in good tune and the filters clean is more cost effective.
BTW- the onboard computer only reads what the fuel sender tells it, so the average might not be exactly right if the sender is flaky (like mine can be).
