Headlight motor electric problem

I replaced the headlamp motor actuators and reassembled the motors, but the passenger side motor is not getting electricity. I know it works because I tried plugging it into the driver's side plug. Any body have any suggestions?

Have you checked the wiring to the Passenger one and what year is this car. Also welcome to the forum.

The year is 1987. I checked the wiring. It seems to be okay. The first time I hooked up the passenger side headlamp motor, I didn't have the brushes in correctly and it may have shorted out. I checked the fuses under the dash - they were all fine. Is there another fuse somewhere?

I know this is going to sound bad because I've put many thousands of dollars in my car. I had the same problem my motor works but its not getting any power. I spent a lot of time pouring over diagrams and voltage meters and everything else and could not fix the problem. So after a while I was willing to try anything. I simply got a wire tapped into the drivers side motor and wired it into the passenger headlamp motor. I hid the wire and haven't had any problems since. No blown fuses or anything. The only complaint is when I turn my headlights on there is about a 5 second grinding noise from the passenger headlight because the motor continues to run.

It might not be a proffesional fix but its cheap and it works. Good Luck.

have you replaced the relay? my brothers 86 needed a new one on the passengerside.

I believe they meant relay by actuators but thats what I would think that would be the problem but since its only one side I would use a continuity tester to make sure the wire's are not broken in some spot you can't see and if thats not the problem I would check to seeif the motor where getting 12 volts at each side with a voltmeter.

I decided to try 99onI95's advice. I tapped into the wires of the driver's side motor and flipped the switch. Both lights popped up at the same time. I could hear the intro of "Bad to the Bone" playing in my head. Thanks for the advice. It's greatly appreciated.

Thats bad ju-ju.Why not just put a new set of relays in it,instead of rigging it .I see melting relays and oversized fuses in your future
