Hello everyone

I have a 2003 Toyota Echo and I just took my car for a 30,000 miles services. The car originally was using 5W30 Oil and when I got the 30,000 miles service the Oil Place switched to 10w40..... my question is: if this is correct?, is this "switched is in the manual?... I just want to be sure that these guys did the right thing.

Thank you all

Oh no, this doesn't sound right at all! The viscosity of the oil required by your engine is absolutely in your owners manual. It should also be stamped on the oil filler cap in the engine bay. Although I don't own an Echo, I can't imagine any new engine requiring 10w-40; it's just too heavy for newly engineered motors. I agree with you that your engine undoubtedly requires 5w-30 so you should check the two places I mentioned above to confirm it. If I were you, I'd drain out that 10w-40. Best of luck.

Hi,

I have an ECHO. On the owner's manual it stated to use 5w-30.

10W40 might be ok in the summer if you live in Phoenix, AZ.
