I had read(prior) to buying mine that the standards got 7-8 and up to 10mpg better fuel economy. This was also from some respected testers/reports.SOooo I looked for a slush box.Couldn't find any in a wagon..OH OF COURSE! after I bought mine I continued on the looking a bit vein..then there were lots.Nice.Figgers.I bought an auto. The mileage was so good..36 city/45 hiway..I began to disbelieve the standard claim..and didn't really care about the extra 10 when Iwas doing this well anyway.

i have an automatic. i mean...my mom has an automatic, i just drive it! the RPM limiter kicks in so quick..... at around 4500 i suppose? its a 99 SE 4 dr. i mean, whenever i floor it the engine doesnt get full RPM range and the lmit kicks in. i would opt for manual cuz i can control the revs.

Manu. But I drive the crap out of it. I put an intake on it and improved the mph big time. If you remove the air intake duct before the air box you can get about 5-10 mph better then before. When you do this the car works less to get air in therefore improving the mph.

Automatic here - 98 wagon. Not sure about the gas mileage. When I bought it I lived near lots of hills and hated the slow climb, now I live where its flat and I love how it performs.

auto, and the transaxle sucks (91 LX 93500 miles)
I don't drive like a nut and i get
27/35 city/highway I get like 30 combined
If a filter replacement doesn't fix my transmission a little. I would not buy another automatic next time

I have an automatic wagon. I can drive either, and like both, but since i got my car for $500, I figure I can't whine about whether it's a stick or not.

I was wondering how many people have sticks or autos.
My 2003 Harley Sportster has a 5 speed and gets 57 mpg on the highway.
My 1986 Ford Escort has an automatic but I've never checked the mileage on it.

Got a 95 LX HB stick 27-30 combo and the wife drives a 96 wagon auto with 30-32 combo. I think she lets it coast downhill a lot.http://www.automotiveforums.com/vbulletin/images/icons/icon10.gif
