Hi all,

I recently had an idle problem checked on my '98 hx and was told the Idle Air Control motor, (I'm assuming this is the same as the IAC valve) was the problem and needed to be replaced. The mechanic told me that the only place to get the part was at a honda dealer and it was $350. Does anyone know if this is truly the case or is their some other place I might be able to find it cheaper? I've done some searches online but as I'm kinda new to car repair I'm unsure as to if I'm actually looking at the right part since some sites list 2 or 3 different part numbers for the HX.

Any input would be appreciated.

Thanks so much.

I can't find a part called the electronic idle control valve, only the idle air control valve. Is this the same thing?

it is called the idle air control valve (IACV), may be called different names by other companies.

i would think that all of the obd1(92-95) civics have the same IACV. talk to the dealership and ask them what the difference is, then go on ebay, theyre like $40
