I've heard all of the good things about aluminum driveshafts, but i have also heard that aluminum parts can tear-up your car. Does this include a D/S? And when someone says tear-up your car, what exactly can it mess up?

The aluminum drive shaft is perfectly fine. People tend to have issue's when they get a aftermarket drive shaft that is out of balance. If the drive shaft is out of balance, you will get a vibration. Also after a period of time, it will wear out the output cup and shaft in your transmission. If you get gears, that will really make a out of balance issue show up because your drive shaft will spin even faster, so that weight will have more force. Think of a out of balance wash machine.
The balance issue can be with stock drive shafts too, not just aftermarket. I would reccomend that you also get a drive shaft safety loop, just incase the U-Joint ever breaks. That will prevent the front of the drive shaft from wedging into the ground, and catapulting the back end of your car.
I use a aluminum drive shaft on all of my mustangs, and it's a easy mod that usually smooths out the ride.

As far as tearing up things..... only if they are out of balance, but it's not related to the material...... Otherwise the aluminum drive shaft wouldn't be a popular easy mod to do.
I made a mini Q & A a long long long time ago..

with the problems that i have ran in to is that the aluminum drive shafts are bigger in diamiter and my car is lowered and every once in a wile when i launch hard with passengers my driveshaft hits my floor pan. actuly it pinches my e brake cable into the floor pan. but i dont like having more then one passenger so i dont really mind that much

I have aluminum heads, driveshaft, roller rockers, intake, TB, etc. I don't see how aluminum parts can tear up your car.
