Recently the "Check Trans" light on our trooper has begun flashing sometimes. I have read some threads in this and other forums and I believe that this is a common problem. When the light begins blinking the trooper seems to shift into a lower gear. If I stop shut off the engine and wait about 30 seconds I can start it up and it won't hapen again for a while. Anyone have some ideas? I have heard it may be a solenoid or TCM. Any help would be great. Thanks

Im not sure if the tranny would do this on that early of a model but you may need to check the level of the tranny fluid it could be staying in a lower gear to default or protect from burning up. You will also find it difficult shifting with low fluid, if that be the case.
