No no no...Metro is actually in Maryland. It also goes by the name 50. It's exit 19a(I believe?) in MD off I95. The name metro is b/c it is near the Orange Line New Carrolton station. It's not at the station, just near it, on some long straight strip. It's ok, but not really racing. More like a late-night car show, b/c it's way to cop infested for there to be any real racing. Maybe like 1 - 5 runs a night, but that's it. A lot of nice cars up there though.

A lot of racing in Harrisonburg? I got to JMU in Harrisonburg - its true, there's a lot of cars rollin around here, but to be perfectly honest, there's not much racing. Most of the 'racing' is done by high school kids around here who basically just cruise the streets from Sheetz to McDonalds, and back to Sheetz again. Usually 2 or 3 of 'em. At McDonalds, every now and then one will go around the block as fast as he can, but apart from that, it's nothing special. Every now and then though you'll get word up here that some of these guys go out into the back roads to race. But it's nothing like F&F. Sorry to dissapoint you.
Naturally, I'm not the be all and end all of the street racing scene in the 'burg, but I have been here for 5 years, and drive a LOT. So I think i'd know.
JMU, however, DOES have the Madison Motorsports club (http://orgs.jmu.edu/mmsports) , and every now and the JMU actually allows them to autoX in on of the big parking lots here. So that's pretty tight.
If anyone wants to correct me on the scene around here, please feel free - i'd love to find where you guys go around here.
Talk to you later

I think i know that eclipse - or maybe it's a similar one but not the same. The one I'm thinking of actually i think is some weird colors but not red. Anyway its got the F&F pointing fingers decals on it, and a lot of Mitsubishi stickers on it, but on closer inspection, one might notice that, in fact, it's an eagle talon. And all the decals are starting to peel off.
Anyway, is this place you're talking about out 33W from H'burg towards WV? Interesting...

I live around that area too, and work in Harrisonburg. There isnt much racing in that area just on occasion a few cars might run on the outskirts of town. Theres a few around the area just east of H-burg.. Where a few racers run every once in a while. Check out Staunton one time they have some souped up cars up around that area on the strip. Might get lucky and find a few racers there.

Once I'm out of school, I'm gonna be moving up to the DC-Metro area... no i'm pretty sure there's no place actually in the city to race, but I imagine there's somewhere a little outside of it.... anyone know where? (even in MD... doesn't matter)
Also, how about legal drag strips in VA? I know there's an auto-x place in/around Staunton, but drag strips? The only place I know of is in Frederick, MD... and I don't wanna have to drive all the way up there just to get my lastest quarter times...

Broad street in richmond isn't that bad. I don't know of a particular place where everyone hangs out but if you cruise someone will pull up behind you and wanna....
There are actually a lot of base model civics running around broad with motor swaps. Shoot, I had 3 civics try to race me within 15 min on Sat. They can't hang but its fun watching them try :)
Fredricksburg sounds cool. If anyone from here wants to cruise up there on weekend let me know.

Get over yourself dude. Someone freakin died here---and a jackass RICEGIRL_STREETRACER was to blame.....as was the RICEBOY--STREETRACER she was racing agianst.
If it makes you feel better call them streetracers but fact is they were both ricers. I have seen both of them running around before and dozens of other ricers running around town crashing for the last 8 years....No, they arent the only ones who crash or injure innocent bystanders but, they are the only group that consistently drive like buffoons as a group and as individuals..........
What "we" dont need around here is a passe attitude towards people getting killed from illegal racing.

This thread is primarily about racing in and around harrisonburg VA....The accident in the article took place in harrisonburg VA..... on the same road that people were talking about racing on no less. Route 33
So, Why should I post it in a new thread and link it to this thread when I can put it here in one convienent place for everyone to read and think about???
People die doing stupid things everyday---no doubt about that. People die doing totally mundane things everyday---no doubt about that. But, when people die because you want to race your car on the street that is just stupid. You might just start to get it when someone you know and love gets killed by someone being stupid.
The point of the story is that even at 3:30am in a relatively small town on a sunday night......there is still a risk to innocent bystanders from streetracing. If you do something stupid that only endagers yourself then fine but when you put other peoples lives at risk you have overstepped your territory.

I live in Chantilly Va and know the scene here pretty well, it's useless... NO Radar, no nothing, soo many f-ing unmarked cop cars. I've seen a camaro race another car then turn on his lights... Now that sucks! so I wouldnt race anywhere especially not in fairfax county. It's a commonwealth meaning that there are about 30 aging blind people who decide the fates of everybody else.
