When i was wacthing the CD for it, it said i need a credit card when i set it up. Now will it ask me each month to renew it?

no, it's done yearly and they actually give you your first year for free if you buy the starter kit. Also, prince of persia , mortal kombat deception, halo 2, and many other games come with vouchers for 2 free months of xbox live.
