tie rod ends (outer)

What will happen if I lose a tie rod end while driving? I suspect that I have one that may be wearing out, and can not replace it till this weekend.

If a tie rod fails, the failing wheel will point outward. You will lose all control over steering and the car will go where it wants to go. If it fails when the car has some speed behind it (like an off ramp to a highway), you flirt with being killed.
