My tranny starts in 2nd gear and won't shift. I also have a reverse gear. I think it may have something to do with the fact that I just changed my battery. Is there a reset for the computer or what? How do I read the codes and is there a website that tells you what the numbers mean?

Check your tranny output sensor, if the speedo does not work then it is the output. If the speedo works try the input. Both on the the front of the tranny case.

I read the codes from the "check engine" light and it comes up with 12 (recent battery change) and 55 (end of codes). Wouldn't it throw a code for the input and output sensors if they were defective?

I had this same problem with my chrysler sebring. The speedometer also did not work. The input and output sensor on the tranny failed. 25 bucks each at NAPA.
