Clarification on the VC problem

I want to clarify the problems I am having with the 1999 Gr Cherokee that I just replaced the viscous coupler in. The front and rear end are binding as if it were locked in 4X4. All the tires are the same brand, same size, same air pressure. Front and rear differential gear ratios are the same and working correctly and freely. No large metal particles were found in diff's. All the binding is happening at the transfer case. Acts as if VC is bad...no slippage is allowed while turning corners. Just replaced with new VC and problem is slightly better but still present. How much bindage is allowed or acceptable on the full time 4X4? Is there any other parts that could be bad besides the VC? The amount of binding just doesn't seem right. I wouldn't want to drive one if this is normal. I know for certainty it is a '99. It does say it is a QuadraTrac but it does have a VC in the transfer case.

The WJ doesn't have a VC-maybe thats your problem! I think they use a gerator coupling. What type of T-Case do you have? A little binding might be nomal considering it's 4wd in a turn on dry pavement but it shouldn't be very noticeable or doing it all the time. Try this link http://www.wjjeeps.com/tcases.htm

Have you had one of these transfer cases apart?
