a few quick questions...

hi there. first off i'd like to say hi, new to this forum but been modelling for quite some time now.
i've done a few tamyia 1/24th scale kits in the past, just took them out of the box and built them... yeah it's fun doing it, but mainly too straight forward for my liking!
i've been out of the game for a few years, but miss it, and i'm about to get back in... BIG time :D
i've finally tracked down a model i've been looking for, for some time.. an R33 nissan skyline. i own a '93 R33 skyline GTS-T and have it up for sale due to a new baby coming next year, so i decided that i would build the car in minature so i can keep it ;)
so i've got the base model (unfortunatley i couldn't find a GTS-T so had to plump for a GTR) but my car has been heavily modified... so what i'm looking to this forum for is tips on buying aftermarket parts (where? how much? etc?) and tips on making my own parts (how hard is it? which materials should i use? etc?)
i've searched the net high and low looking for the parts i need, but i can only find a few that look right from "fujimi".
here is a pic of the model i got..
http://i13.ebayimg.com/03/i/02/71/54/72_1.JPG
and here's what it will (hopefully) look like when finished..

http://memimage.cardomain.net/member_images/1/web/445000-445999/445435_2_full.jpg
as you can see, i'll have my work cut out, but i'm determined not to rush this one (had a few rushed jobs in the past.... never really seen real cars with big lumps of glue hanging out of body panels!!)
so... onto my questions..
can anyone point me in the right direction as to where to buy aftermarket accessories? (i.e body kit, wheels, interior bits) or am i looking at the long task of making my own?
does anyone have any tips for me re: the building of this kit?
how easy is it to make a resin bodykit? which materials would i need for a mould?
any help appreciated
thanks in advance

Welcome aboard!
You might be very interested to know that Tamiya made an R33 GTS-t kit:
http://www.tamiya.com/japan/products/list/24car_img/24132m.jpg
(Actually, they label it as a "GTS 25t," but the body shape is the same, right...?)
It is Tamiya kit number 24132, but it is out of production, so you'd have to find it on the second hand market; ebay and the like.
You might also be interested in Aoshima's new accessory sets, which were discussed in this thread:
Pics of Aoshima SPOCOM and Drift Parts (http://www.automotiveforums.com/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=293464&highlight=spocom)
But, you may have to build/modify a lot of parts to replicate your 1/1 scale car. Take your time, plan your work, and ask us questions when you get stuck, and you'll do fine! :)
(i also just sent you a PM...)

thanks for the replies folks... some really useful links there... take me about 6 months to get through half of it!!
jay,
thats the very car! exactly the same as mine was when it came out of the factory!! (exept the colour) the 25 usually gets dropped, most people just go by GTS, GTS-T and GTR.
i've hunted for months for a GTS/T kit, but could only find the GTR... i'm sure the slightly wider rear wings won't matter too much... just give me more work!
really lloking forward to getting this started now, it's been awhile and my fingers are twitching to get stuck in! i'll keep the forum posted on my progress.
cheers

IŽm not sure on how eager you are on finding a GTS but I found this at eBay, what differs between the car bodies? And also, wouldŽnt it be possible to convert a 26dett into a 25det?

thanks dukeman,
i already got one, jay pointed me in the right direction :d
the difference in the body is the GTR has wider rear arches and a different grill, whereas now i have the GTS i won't have to "thin" the wings or scratch build a grill
re: the engine...
i doubt that i'd be able to convert the 26 into a 25, it's more rounded than the 25 and also a twin turbo (25 being single)
RB26DETT

RB25DET
http://www.tomei-p.co.jp/_2003web-catalogue/image/pic_kisyubetsu/018_rb25_06.jpg
i suppose i could work something out, just wanted to see if i could just get a RB25 stright from the box!

how about this one then?
http://www.hlj.com/scripts/hljpage.cgi?AOS03512
It doesŽnt look like itŽd be to much work to do, at least I wouldŽnt be able to tell a rb25det and a rb20det apart.
Good luck whatever your choice will be!
