Here's my problem
I got a 94Ls with 110,000 miles on it. The motor and tranny is in great conditon. It is bone stock except for the stereo system. By the way, it has a salvage title. The guy I bought it from has a 96GSR. It has 144K on it. It looks better than mine, in the sense that mine has some little dents and the bondo used to repair the car is starting to show. He said his has a salvage title as well, but it looks great. He said it was wrecked from the front but he had the whole front end changed. I drove the car and I felt like it pulled alot harder. He said I could trade my car the way it is and I would have to give him 2500.00. He said if I took out my system, it would be 3500.00, and he would finance it. What do you guys think of this deal. Am I getting ripped or does it sound good?

is this guy your friend? not an aquiantence, but your friend?
now considering that both of the cars are salvaged, the gsr alone goes for $3,900. the ls goes for $2,800. now i got these quotes from kelly blue book. he's trying to rip you off. as much as i would love to have a gsr, i would not pay that much for a salvaged car. sorry man

I would! Think about it. Most GS-R engines you buy come out of salvaged cars that couldn't be repaired. The engines alone sell for about $3500. If you can get the car with it (and it's in good condition), why not. If you like it, get it checked by a mechanic. You might even be able to pay honda to inspect it. This might cost you a little bit of money, but could be well worth it. If it checks out fine, I would go for it.

Well that guy is a car salesman. I just came from his dealership. I went to show the car to a couple of friends. We took it out for a spin. Well whwn my friend was in the back seat, the rear of the car was making a weird noise, as if the rear shocks were bad.My friend also noticed that when I took a sharp right corner, The cv axle started to make noise. I hadn't noticed because I was blinded with the possibilities of getting a GSR. Well if those things are bad, I don't wanna go any further with the deal. Who knows, The engine could be on its last leg. I don't think I wanna pay a mechanic to tell me any more bad news.I know what B18LS was saying about the price of a GSR engine, but I know my car is in great shape mechanically. The money I would spend on the GSR, I could probably fix my body work and possibly get a turbo. I think I'll stick with my LS.

I didn't know that. Where? Are you talking about the engine and fenders, or just the fenders and single light conversion. If it's just he fenders, never mind. If your talking about the engine too, tell me where.

Wow if you do that trade...everybody goes nuts over the gsr engine, it's not THAT fast, you need a turbo on it for any real performance...it's quick...and for trading a lower mileage LS for a high mileage same engine w/ VTEC and paying $3500, I think would be a dumb stupid idiotic move. But live and learn, and then buy a fast car and wonder why you thought your old cars were good.
