92' Factory CD problems

I'm having problems with my 92' Park Avenue's factory CD stereo. The unit will accept the cd, but will not play it. It will say "cd" in the corner, like it's trying to play it. After about 10 seconds or so, it jumps back to the regular radio. It will not let you go back to the CD unless you turn it off, and then back on. It also will not eject the CD while the radio is still on. I have to turn it off, and then hit the eject button, and it comes out fine. Maybe the "eye" is not reading the CD, so it thinks there isn't one in there? Any ideas? Thanks!

I for one wouldn't reccommend tearing open the radio, not because it's damaging to it, but because you probably can't fix it. Find a local repair shop, and send it to them.
