My friend says hes getting an r1 and going to bore the engine for 5k. he says hes gonna make it go from being around 1000cc to 1400cc. So my question to everyone here, is that possible and for 5k?

Aslo, has it been done?
Thanks!!!

Yeah, he heard wrong or something. A 2mm overbore netted me 57cc on a 1052cc engine.(1109cc bored) You just can't get 1400cc that way.

I've never heard of such a big bore job done on a motorcycle before, I doubt the cylinder heads would have enough structural integrity to support so much power.

80-260ccs is your average big bore kit for 1000cc+ motorcycles.

the hayabusa can be taken up to 1585cc with 3mm overbore and 8.5mm stroker crank but i'm not aware of any companies selling a similiar kit for the r1.

to get that 1585cc on the hayabusa you have to purchase a different cylinder with thicker walls. there is no way you are going to get 400cc out of a stock r1 cylinder nor do they sell a cylinder capable of raising the displacement 400cc to bolt onto the original 1000cc block.
