my setup out back isnt done.. basically its just a really big wood box with 2 12" solo knock=offs in it. i still have to mak a finishing cover to go across the entire hatch section and tie it all together good.. ill take a pic morrow morning and edit into this. peace

try sticking your speakers up you will get much better sound cause they wont get any airflow right there

i've got two 12's in the back of mine, but i found that when i stuck them facing up, it would shake the spare well cover wooden thingy that it's mounted too pretty bad. next time i do it, im definately putting them horizontal.

^^^ I figured there would be some drawbacks to facing them upwards. That makes sense though. The box is ported, so its not a problem getting enough air to them.

I'm in the process of making something so the box doesn't slide around so much and maybe put the box at a tilt. There's actually more room than you can see. I just have to push the box back a little. The sound is amazing. They sound like 12s.

actually the way u have them is better, the more back pressure the better. have u ever noticed the sound when the trunk is open there not as loud cuz there is no pressure. no pressure = shitty sound and eventually blown speakers.

a well desiging system has alot to do with your battery volts, box type, air displacement. alot of subs out now require ither sealed, or ported only. so when you customize your back hatch area make sure your not sacrifising quality for show.

all subs have a base wave, make sure to ask how long your subs base wave is and try to alow for it with the placement of your box. i've done some custome boxes, and setup's that absolutly sounded like shit, and had to spend a lot of time figureing out why becasue of my lack of understanding of this. if you run into the problem of the wave being longer then your hatch to your seat (most 10-12 are around 10-13feet) try positioning your sub at an agle directionly porportal to the reflex, or reflection to give the wave a longer length. ie, more twords the rear seat, faceing the rear hatch window at a 25-35 degree sland, so it can reflect off the hatch glass to your front seats.

if you have any questions about installing, or fabrication, just ask, were all here to help.
ps. every manufacture of subs, have sheet for custom boxes to help you with air displacement in large or tight areas to give better responce to their unique frequency. what are you planning on using?

no not that it needs air , it needs space bounce off the wall harder there for creating more bass

what are the dimensions of the spare tire well?

is it really big enough for a 12?

bighauns

You can always invert the 12 in the rear tire well. That is what I am gonna do. I am getting a Xtant 1244 (i think) and inverting it.

im going to be putting 2 rockford 12"s molded coming out the tire well

i hit 145db on 2 sealed rockford dvc 12's 5 years @ 2ohm load, with $700 of equipment. them were some good speakers.

my next system, im going to go out on a limb and try some of these newer brands amps (profile, viosonic, fusion). a friend of mine who is a certified dealer for all the audio product lines gave me a new fusion 12 for helping him out. its been in my garage for 3 months sitting ontop of one of my old bandpass boxes, its only 400w rms but i think it will do what i need. just depends on how i box it. stereos are exactly like tunning a car. its all about fine tunning the little things, making them all work together.

Man, it depends on a lot of stuff. It depends if they are sealed, ported...how many ports there are. If the seats are up or down and if the cargo cover is on or not. When it comes to audio there is so many variables that 99% of people are oblivious to.

Acce23--> you are probably destroying your alternator, unless you have one and didnt mention it. Just because you won a competition means nothing. I have won tonnes of competitions with a POS system, but just because I have the right supporting things to go with it. I have taken some 25 dollars pioneer IMPP specials and turned them into a kick ass system.

Don't cut down people unless you know 100% what you are talking about. He was just saying from his experience what has worked for him.

I am done now, before I go off on a huge rampage.

just finished it today ... Also has 2 120mm fans to keep the amp cool. Fans have blue lcds that make the amp light up at night and glow through the eclipse emblem.

When I first got my Eclipse I was gonna put like a 12" or a 15" sub magnet down in the wheel well. But now that I know what I want I am thinking im gonna fill the whole thing up with 2 15 's.

Edit.. I think the three subs looks awesome. 10" 's I assume?

I am planning on getting a custom box ripping out my back seats having the amps screw right into the box behind the driver and passenger seats with plexiglass over them and then putting either 4 12" Koiilers or 6 10" Koiilers, its gonna be a competition system. Ill post pics when Im done. Does someone know where I can get some 12" Dual Voice Coil Koiilers (I need the older style).
