Not if you plan on keeping it RHD. In fact, it won't even pass customs until you have a registered importer change it all over for you (bumpers, headlights, brakelights, glass, LHD conversion, airbags, emissions systems, etc.). Good luck with that, it'll probably cost about $10-15,000 at the least.

I don't understand why RHD wouldn't be legal? Their's a woman here with a RHD Subaru Outback.

It isn't. Trust me, I've researched this many times.... even if he didn't have to have a LHD drive conversion done it would still cost at least several thousand dollars and >month to get it through customs.

She is a mail deliverer, maybe they're allowed.

that would be why. It is not legal for anyone else, though.

RHD IS legal!! The issue ISN'T RHD vs LHD. That is not the problem. If you want a RHD Integra....you MAY have to convert a USDM Integra THAT is legal. The JDM Integra is different than the USDM one in ways OTHER than RHD.
ie
bumpers
side impact
wind screen
seatbelts
headlights
emissions
etc (I think you get the idea)

LHD car's are Illegal in Australia, EXCEPT if they were built BEFORE 1968. I've seen a LHD car on our roads, it was fucking weird!

...but aren't you glad RHD is legal there? If they were both illegal, you'd be up a shit creek without a paddle.

Where the steering wheel is is not an issue...

there are many companies that will import it for you and do all the necasary modifications to make it legal. Motorex is one of them, google it and you may find more. They will need to make emmisions and safety equipment legal in order for the car to get registered. being RHD does not matter only the emissions and safety equipment.

Also it will take a lot of cash and time to get it through. I believe some places charge upwards of 10,000. I'm not really sure of price only that it is expensive.

Is it really worth getting an Integra from Japan if you're going to spend 10 grand on getting it registered? Why not just get a USDM Integra and spend 10 grand on modifying it? It will be faster than a JDM.

or find one for sale that has already been registered and through all the BS. there was a nice JDm/RHD type R on ebay about a month ago in PA. be alot cheaper to have it shipped from east coast to west coast than to have one imported.

motorex only legalizes skylines.

As said before, RHD/LHD is not an issue. The price all depends on the car and if another car that year and modle have been tested by the importer lately. There must be a record of a crash test on file. If they don't have one, you have to get another car of the same year make and modle just for them to crash. This isn't a huge problem because you are importing a popular car. Chances are they have records of an Integra R of each year on file. You will have to get the emissions tested and various other things (not sure what all it intalls) I do know that all of this must be done before the car is imported, if not, you will not be able to register it. You could however have it shipped as is and transfer everthing over to an old junkyard Integra. (Or switch the vins) Either way.

NO! I'd rather eat worms.

I'm not sure about any other states (I'm sure the same applies for them though) but a rhd car IS legal in California. The car only needs to pass emissions, DOT, Crash tests, among other regulations. The only thing you need to do is notify the DMV that it is a rhd vehicle and they will give you a special permit for it.

It's 50 state legal. RHD that is.

I dont know if its true or not, but last i heard from my friends mom who works at a dmv here in vegas, she said all you have to do is register the car as a RHD. And i think it costs you a shitload of moneyfor insurance. Now if you do the conversion yourself it costs $0.00 I have a friend at school who got a rhd conversion for his 90 crx. As i said before im not sure if im correct. Ive never really researched importing a rhd, so i may be completely wrong.

Well, is the car registered in Hawaii? because if it is, then I'm doubting there would be a hell of a lot of trouble, providing you can prove that it complies with state-specific safety/emissions laws.

IntegraTypeR

You should be good. I guess. You can go to a site called Jay'sGarage (I think...) they import cars. You might be able to ask them. I'd find the site for you, but it's past my bed time. (Yeah right) Good night.

Depending on where you are buying it from and what work has been done you will need to have all headlights and tailights converted to US legal ones. What model year is the car? You might have already said but I'm too lazy to go back and see.

From what I've heard, the easiest way is to register the car as a kit car, but then insurance sucks.

Then you heard wrong. You CAN'T register a car as a kit car unless it IS a kit car.

yeah, we'd be still with horse and cart. We'd have better drivers though, and still manage to have the odd shit driver.
