Brake Light Problem

Hope someone can help me with this. About three weeks ago, I noticed that my brake system warning light came on, but soon went off on its own. Since then, it has been going on and off repeatedly. However, it will only come on during moderate to heavy acceleration, or less acceleration on a loose surface like gravel. It will stay on until a moderate to heavy stop, and then will only turn on again after accelerating to around 3000rpm or more. The brakes feel and work fine, the problem seems to be worse when the car is cold, in that less acceleration is needed to activate the light. Fluids checked, all good, no leaks could be found. I don't know if it matters, but I believe I started having this problem soon after my tires were rotated. Any help would be most appreciated.

Sounds like its about time to replace your brake pads.When the brake pads get worn down it use's more fluid in the lines and the fluid moves in the master cyl....also it will help to top off the brake fluid,but just remember its about time to replace the pads before you mess up the rotors :wink:

If I were you, I would go back to whoever rotated your tires and ask them why they didn't look at the pads and tell you they were low. If they are not low, though, which they probably are, try calibrating the tire pressure. It's possible that it could have affected the system.

Thanks for the info. When I bought the car two years ago, the pads were brand new and I only put about 20,000km on the car. From what I can see, the brakes look fine. The tire pressure was screwy though, all different, one as low as 27psi, the high one being 36psi. I adjusted all the pressure to be the same, and the problem went completely away. I could floor it and the light would not come on. However, when I started the car tonight after sitting for a few hours, the light comes on before I moved. It has never done this before. Again, it would go off on braking, turn on during acceleration. What I don't understand is if it is a brake problem, why does the light only come on during an acceraltion and aways turn off during a brake? Any other help would be most appreciated.

The only thing that I can tell you is that there are just so many different sensors on these cars that they all affect each other in some way. If you are not haviing a real problem, I wouldn't worry about it. But it's up to you, I just wouldn't like to see the bill for someone to check all of my sensors if you know what I mean. Good Luck.
