Lemon Lawsuits?

I was just curious if anyone else had experience with GM and getting compensated for their Lemon Alero? I hate dealing with legal issues, but I'd like to know if GM has volunteered to handle complaints on the car, seeing that have been so many.
I bought a used one and it had over 100,000 miles on it, so I didn't think too much about a lemon suite/settlement. The car suffered the Trac Off lightup and stall issue others have mentioned and that resulted in me taking a really hard hit. Luckily no one in my car was hurt badly, but there is no doubt the car was sriously not right and that resulted in the crash. With any other car, I'd count my losses and move on, but there seems to be an epidemic of Alero complaints, so I wonder if it might be worth pursuing? Any thoughts?

Your not going to get anywhere with it. You did not own the car while it was under warranty, you didn't have to get the same problem fixed 3 times within a projected time period, you bought it used, and in most states any car with more than 100000 miles is considered past it's mechanical limitations. Lemon laws basically just cover new vehicles that are constantly breaking down.
I for one love my Alero. I've not had any problems with it except for the LIM gaskets but those happened to all GM models with the 90 degree V6's in them not just the Aleros. But I do know of other Alero owners that have problems all the time.

Yeah--I figured the car had to still be under warranty.
I'm glad your Alero has been pretty much trouble free. They were a neat design of a car--one of the best looking cars in its class, IMHO. It's a shame as a whole they have had so many problems. Were all Aleros assembled at the same plant, I wonder? I assume they were, but it seems odd that so many have the same problems (There have been a few class action suites against GM because of the car) but others go trouble free of any glitches.
I sold my soul and went Japanese now. Grew up on American cars, but I just bought a Subaru (although it was built in America) and I'll have to say it is a superior vehicle. Seriously, I've never driven such a solid car, and this is from a guy who used to be anti-import. I'm still not a bit impressed with Toyota or Mitsubishi or the like, but Subaru makes one fine automobile.
My Alero had a 4 cylinder, but I was impressed at its peppiness...for a four banger. I assumed all the front wheel drive GM cars had the 60 degree v-6 engines. I used to drive a late model El Camino with the 90 degree V-6 in it--it was awsome. I built it up with bigger, higher compression pistons, roller rockers, and a Holley 4 barrel carb. I could get it to grab all four gears. All the performance Chevy V-8 parts were interchangable w/ the V-6, except for cam and crank of course. Well, good luck with your Alero.

All Alero's were assembled in Lansing, Mi, along with the Grand Am's and I believe the Malibu's. I'm sure about the Malibu's though.
The 3.8L found in the grand prix's and such are 90 degree v6's. The main 60 degrees are the 2.8, 3.1, and the 3.4.

Oh and by the way nice choice with the Subaru. I'm saving money right now to get me a STI. I'm done with GM I want something that will retain its value.

I just called 1-800-lemon-law after hearing an ad on the radio. That firm was for PA residents and maybe NJ too. But there are many law firms that deal only with lemon laws. And the laws differ in each state. The first PA number I called was no help, and then the number above that I called told me I was a perfect candidate. (PA law stipulates that a part has to have been replaced three times before 36,000 miles). They just get your VIN and research all the work your car has had. And no fee unless they get you money. And they take, probably, 40%. But I got a bunch of money from GM. Never had to go to court, settled before it ever came to that. I hope yours is a lemon too!
