Did you check the ignition module before changing all the other things? Sounds like you were looking to get spark.

You have a distributor or a coil pack? And is the engine cranking slowly, or just clicking, or engaging and not turning over the engine. Possible Battery problem, maybe a battery wire. You've said you changed all the other ingition parts. rare possibility that the timing chain broke, or it jumped and threw the timing out of whack. But what are the exact symptoms and details. I am not there to witness it, i'd like to give you some better info rather than speculations. let us know more, i am sure from what i have read on this forum so far that we have the answer amongst us.

I would check and make sure your timming isn't off after you've replaced all that you have. Did you put the plugs in the correct firing order (this seems to be a problem more than it should be)? If it isn't cranking over I would then check out the battery as tamax said. If thats alright, the starter solenoid could be the issue.

Yeah more details man, I know every part of starting a 3rd gen firebird, because i've replaced every part there is that's involved in it. What EXACTLY happens when you turn they key, what sounds do you hear, what works, what doesn't?

k something i should have already said which i haven't (cuz i'm a dumb ass) it's a 3.1l v6 we've checked the timing chain and it seemed ok or that's what the told me it turns over and cranks the entire time you hold the key over and it sounds like a normal crank exept for the part were the engine dosen't come to life and so far the new parts list in the last 5-days is spark plugs, wires(2 sets have been switched in and out the first set was bad and yes we have it in the right firing order after 6 tries), dis. cap, dis. rotor, starter, ecm, and the coil is good and thats what i'm sure bout one or two other things might had been changed but i'm not sure and if anything major was changed i'd have it in here. but its just a pain in the ass it just cranks and makes that ren-ren-ren sound but won't come to life as i like to put it. if that dosen't help let me know exactly what you need and i'll get you the answer! i appreciate all your help thank you all very much!

The solenoid was replaced with the starter, correct? Sounds like everything is working right, is it getting any fuel?

If you are getting electric (12v) to the coil, but no spark from the coil, then the coil is bad. Remember though, the 12v current to the coil must be pulsating to correctly operate the coil. (In older autos this pulse was managed by the points, today it is electronic). Therefore it could also be the electronics, depending on the current flow.

k so were now using a 90 lumina for parts (3.1l V6)
cuz it ran up until the head gasket blew a couple of weeks ago. so we took the coil from that and put it on and it still isn't working and as for tech. automan's Q yes the entire starter sys. was changed. and as for JM93's Q yes it is getting fuel and as for everybody's timingchain Q the timing chain is perfect. And Philo yes we are getting all 12v to the coil. So we are still stumped. unless maybe two months ago the tranny mount got busted and it might had messed up the nutreal safety switch...
could that be the problem???

if it was the safety switch the engine wouldn't turn over at all. This is a hard one, if all the electric portions are fine and it's getting fuel, then the only thing left would be timing is off, unless you have major internal damage and there's no reason for that right?

check your crank and cam sensors, if they are messed up, your computer won't know when to fire them. Also, check to see if there are any codes present.

http://www.sethirdgen.org/dtc.htm

That link will show you how to do it.

no there'd be no reason for internal damages.

Cam and crank sensors are not internal. Run the codes and check it out

Okay it's been awhile since I posted because they had given up on it but now want it running in TWO WEEKS! okay so nothing much has change on the exchanged parts list, but now the car won't even crank and it doesn't seem to be getting enough fuel (well it doesn't seem to be= we dissconected the fuel inlet line and it just didn't seem to be pushing out enough fuel). I am beging to think we need to get the car up so we can get under and replace fuel lines... is there any specific undecar fuel lines/parts that seem to be a problem and crap out? Any help would be greatly appreciated!
