i just bought a set of 4x6s for my front doors and i still want to get sound from the stock tweeters in the pillars. im wiring the new speakers right to my aftermarket head unit, (so im not using the factory amps). any advice on how i should do this?

You would have to buy a crossover. Set the tweeters for high frequencies and the front speakers for semi-high.

If you run your tweets in parallel / series (I still get them confused) with your mids (4x6) you'll need to install bass blockers for your tweets..

When you buy the crossover, there are seperate terminals for the tweeters and for the woofers, So there will just be a +/- input. a +/- Tweeter, and a +/- woofer/mid.
