Hey I want to paint my truck flat black but I want to know if clear coats are used only for glossy finishes and also I am planning on using a stripper to take it down to the bare metal. How much stripper do I need?

They make a flattening agent to put in the clear if that is the route you want to take. You could paint it with DP 90 PPG. That is one of their sealers and is a nice low gloss epoxie primer sealer paint. I paint all my inner fenders and under hood with it. The clear coat would last better but it's all in what you want in the end. I hate the messy strippers. You might look into getting it platic media blasted. It leaves the metal looking brand new.

Well I want the flat black or satin look but I want to be able to wash it without the paint looking to worn. Also this is probably a dumb question but did you mean plastic media blasted and if not what is platic
