HELP escort money pit it seems.

Hello all i want to thank a friend for this link and will pass it on.
Ok now the problem i got this escort 90 1.9 4 door hatch. I wanted to use it as a first time driver car because i got my driv. lic. with a escort paid nothing for it but this is what i have put into it.

1 fuel pump
1 gas tank
1 battery
inner and outer tie rods both sides.
tune up kit with coil
complete exuast from engine back
breaks complete with calipers, rotors drums all the way around.
1 o2 cen.

Now to the problem. What i can't understand is this i was getting oil where the air filter is from the tube that comes off the vavle cover. plus roof idle starts, when hot would rev up to 3k rps and then drop down on being warm. so i removed the valve cover and did a complete clean under neath it seems the little plate was clogged had alot of junk come out. also a clogged vacuum line from the junction box that hooks upto the air filter housing and came down to another black junction for vacuum so i replaced it. have not noticed any more oil but now i get idle that stays at 2500 rps and will not drop but it does this at a warm run not cold. Any ideas would help i feel i have gone this far and do not want to stop.
