Can someone please tell me what the owners manual says about factory reccommended oil changes.
Normal conditions, dusty roads, highway miles.
We've all heard the 3k miles/6 months... the best engine you'll ever own. This car is going to get the factory reccommended oil change interval, as it is driven one hundred highway miles a day, 5 days a week.
Also reccommended viscosity for local temperature in South Florida 70F-105F
Thanks,

Thanks...... but is that what the owners manual says?.... I was expecting something more like 7500 for an hour drive each way every day...... clean smooth pavement.
I'm going to loose in my effort to save fossil resources and money if I have to change that oil every month.

5w20 and every 3750 miles is what we recomend at my dealership. We have a couple 300k mile cars that have been serviced here since new.

5w is factory, but i use 10w, a little heavier because my car burns oil at WOT, so it helps to lessen the loss of oil

Or you can go synthetic I will be changing mine every 5000-6000 miles. Making sure of course to change the oil filter every 3000 miles and add oil as needed. If a corvette can go 7500 miles between oil changes (factory recomended) with Moible 1 synthetic I figure it should be ok to go 6000 with the same oil.
But if your motor has lots of miles (over 150,000) on it dont use synthetic it will leak really bad.

My read on the maintenance schedule, gifted to me by TheSilentChamber, is 7500 miles seeing that I dont take a knock by one of the *harsh enviorment/use clauses.
Now if I were zoomin or racin hard, I would change as needed, but this is the old lady's work transportation. Aside from exceeding the speed limit. glazing the brakes and riding the clutch (hehe) , she's pretty much easy on a car. I like the 5w30, I'm already running that in some of the other cars. Everybody OK with Castrol GTX?
Whats a prefered oil filter.... I like Wix but am not sure about their product for the Honda.

Castrol is good, I use Mobil1 synthetic. I used to use penzoil, but sence them and quakerstate merged I stoped, I never have like quaker state, and I will not use it.

I think the Wix filters are about the best out there. Castrol GTX has been used for about 90% of my oil changes.

I remember when I used to see "Pump Top" advertisments for Mobil 1 at their filling station. They probably still have them, I'm just not aware of seeing this recently.
Anyway, while filling some 50 gallons into a servicetruck I was driving at the time..... I looked real hard at the photo's. It was a comparison campaign showing what the inside of your oil pan looks like with mineral oil/compared to Mobil ONE.
Being the idiot-savant that I am refered to by my closest family, I became aware of minor scratches and flaws in the flanges of the oil pan. Gasket material that hadnt been removed from the filthy, inferior, Dino-Oil soiled belly pan.
Then looking at the sparkeling clean Mobil ONE oil pan with envy. I NEED SOME OF THIS! Thats rocket science at work there!
But Wait..... hey, thats the same gasket stain, scratch, what the???? They just cleaned the same oil pan and put clean oil in it.... Where's the truth in advertising? Those Bastards!
Had they not tried to BS me, I might have tried their product. I hear good things and some other then good things..... I dont think I suggest Mobil ONE gear oil. Somethings not quite right with it... so I hear.
If your ever in a Mobil station, look for that poster, I bet they still use it.

mobil 1 filter is the best out there, if you do constant hwy miles then 4000 is prolly a better number to go buy, use 10w-30 for those kind of temps, 5w-30, and 5w-20 are way to thin for such temps.
