Traded in the Evo for a 2001 WS6

Well the Evo had quite a few problems with it (Clutch, all the belts and crank plate getting destroyed in a freak accident, and numerous programming issues that were never resolved). I went to a dealership initially looking for a 2002 SS that they had there. Luckily that car sold, and I looked over to see a 2001 WS6 for sale, for alot cheaper. The car costed $21,000 and had 39K miles on it. I traded in the Evo, and gave them $1000. I'm paying less money for the car, and I have an extended warranty. Hopefully this car won't have that many problems. Matty we definitely need to run each other. BTW the car came with some aftermarket goodies: Thunder Racing Catback Exhaust, and K&N air filter.

Good deal. I guess the two cars are a bit different, but why didn't you get another evo?

Congrats, you have any plans for the WS6? You gonna mod it or leave it pretty much stock?

haha of course hes goin to do shit to it. right now since the WS6 is pretty mcuh stock, his EVO is probrably faster. anyways well sorry to hear about the freak accident with your EVO. well enjoy your new car. i just think it would be weird to jump from a Z28 to a EVO back to a big clumsy WS6 again. i mean you had a taste of what a balanced car feels like, now your just goin straight back to raw power.

that WS6 is pretty stock, and his EVO keep up with DANOSS who has a 330whp SS camaro until lke 140mph.

Actually top end wise i'm positive that this car is faster. I'd guestimate that this car should trap around 104 mph through the traps at Speedway, whereas the Evo would trap around 102 with it's mods. The car already has a few mods that the original owner put on. The power is there, and i'm positive that this car has more power at the wheels then the Evo did. I actually think it can hang with Danno SS's car from a roll (He's got drag radials, and his car is an automatic, so I don't think I could beat him from a dig. BTW he ran a 13.2 sec. 1/4 mile at 105 last time we were at the track). The Evo kept having problems. I don't think all Evo's are bad reliability wise, but that car was really pissing me off. Oh, and yeah, this WS6 handles horribly. I isn't even funny how poorly it handles.

the WS6 is as fast or faster than the evo.
at least the WS6 handles better than the Z28

Whatever makes you happy I guess. It seems like a downgrade to go from a brand new evo to a 3 year old ws6. W/e Both cars are cool and fast.

the ws6 doesnt handle terribly, just worse compared to the evo :P

Compared to an Evo, anything else in its price range going to handle pretty poorly. The WS6's handling isn't that bad, and there's a large aftermarket that you can use to upgrade your suspension and chassis. Anyways, congrats on the new car, those Trans Ams are demonic-looking.

Im not a huge domestic fan, but I think those WS6s are hot. If I had to drive a domestic, I'd take an WS6. Beautiful cars, and mad as hell.
Comparing the Evo and the WS6 is like comparing an Audi S4 to a BMW ///M3. Sure, teh Audi (eco) handles better...But the ///M3 (WS6) is just so much more fun to drive.

Well, you can do it in any car, but there is more of a control factor. When Top Gear compared the two, the S4 was faster around a track, but overall, the ///M3 was more of a fun car to drive becuase of the ability to click of DSC and let it slide out. I would think its the same with the WS6 and teh EVO. The EVO would be faster around teh track with AWD, but the WS6 would be a bit more fun because you can kick it out a little bit more.

All I can say is that the power delivery is actually quite sick on this car. It's got more balls then my 2000 Z28 did. I talked with my buddies friend, whom has owned roughly 4 f-bodies, and he stated that the 2001-2002's are the strongest running amongst the F-bodies w/ LS1's (Z06 intake manifold, and supposedly other tweaks). All I can say is that i'll be astonished if this car doesn't trap at atleast 104 mph at Speedway. I've already burned out in it. Gosh I missed peeling out. Oh, and I wouldn't say it handles better then the Z28, cause it definitely doessn't. This car is wobbly, BIG TIME!!!!

New poly bushings and a good panhard bar will take care of that quick fast and in a hurry.
I can consitantly get my buddies 2000 TA to trap 104 MPH @ 13.4 seconds all day long. His was a stick.

No you are thinking of the STi. I'm not too sure about the 2005 Evo though, but I don't think they have the distribution system like the STi does. My Evo had basically a 50/50 power delivery to the wheels. The problem with that is that the car would go through clutches in no time, and clutch jobs on those cars are expensive, as it involves alot of work.

Congrats on the new wheels Bobby:grinyes:. I thought you were going to sleep on it a bit more. In any case it sounds like you got a runner. The 01-02 M6 WS6s are dynoing in the 310-320rwhp range stock. Throw in the catback and you should be in the 320-330 range. A 104 trap at Speedway shouldn't be a problem for you. I'm certain as it stands your WS6 would kill my A4 from a roll. I'd still be interested in seeing how badly though. Damn now I'm going to have to get a stall convertor.

The WS6 is faster, but the Evo is probably more fun to drive because it's quick and handles better. If you just wanna go straight, the WS6 is better.

Well I think this dude may have modded the car more then I initially thought. This is one thing I really hate about buying a used car. My buddy agreed with me that the shifter isn't stock. I'm beginning to wonder if the car has gears too. I do know that i'll be buying a whisper lid when I have a chance.

first cobra, then z28, then evo, and now ws6. make up your mind already!!! ahhehe.
i know what you mean about the handling. i went from a dropped integra to the cobra and the cobra feels like a boat. when in reality the ws6 and cobras are no boats through the turns.
happy for you man. now give us pics already darn it!
edit: Robs71nova, could you please adjust your sig so all of us dont have to pan right and left when reading? thanks (everyone on AF)
