97 RS KILLS BMW 3 series

My girl and I decided to go for a drive since we were bored and there was nothing to do.

We came to a stop at an intersection and there was this rich yuppie guy, he looked like he was in his mid 30s sitting in his nice ass BMW 3 series with his model chick in the passenger seat.

When the light turned green, he floored it and I just laughed. At the next light, he took off again and this time i said what the heck... might as well!

I floored it and of course he had an early start. We were on the coast HWY so there were no lights for at least 2 blocks. This guy didn't have a huge lead at all! He was leading by half a car and this was right off the line.

As soon as I hit 3rd, we were nose to nose. As soon as I hit 4th, GOODBYE!!! I killed his ass!!!

Keep in mind, this guy has more HP than I do! The only reason why I believe I won was because I was a better driver than him. He was redlining like a muthafu#ker and was shifting too late.

It was a 2002.

now this guy has a manual bimmer and doesn't know how to shift... hahaha... it would of been better if you whipped him with an auto. I would have to laugh my ass off and point.

I don't believe it ... the RS motor is probably one of the weakest and gayest pos I've ever seen I know cuz I have have a 99 RS too... and I swear the car probably goes 0-60 in 12 seconds flooring it every gear... there's no way you can keep up with a bmw 3 series... unless his car was loaded with weight from something. Like his fat gf for example.

I have done 0-60 in 9 (auto) and this was when my motor was eating/burning oil and had bad rings. You have to be a really bad driver to do it in 13 sec.

But don't forget, with work the RS can ACTUALLY be fast! yay.

It's sad that you really think that! It's obvious that you know nothing of what the 420a is capable of.

To prove that I killed a BMW 3 series, I guess i'll have to take my video camera and hunt down one and race it! They won't be hard to find since that's everyone seems to be driving here, besides Hondas & Mustangs.

im guessing the guy wasnt all on it... maybe he started letting off and then got back on it when it was too late or something. if not, then i feel sorry for the bmw that got stuck with that driver lol.

I hear the 420a engine get dissed alot these days. It seems that according to some people the only mod for a rs/gs/esi is to sell there car and buy a 4g63 powered dsm. But the facts say that the 420a has a lot of potential. It might take a few bux to tap it but its not a useless cause. Everday the 420a aftermarket grows. Theres a few diferent turbo kits, numerous bolt ons, and even a supercharger kit for it now (thats what mines getting when i get the bankroll).

I know one of the biggest arguments against a 420a powered Rs/GS/Esi is that by the time you set it up for boost you could of sold it and had a gst. Well i can't seem to find that adding up. you can get a 2g gs for 3-4k these days in real good condition. for a 2g gst in real good condition i found your going to spend 5-6k at least. if your looking for 350 hp and up dont you have to replace alot of stuff on the gst? on a gs instead of replacing the turbo you buy a turbo, same cost. instead of replacing the injectors you buy the injectors, same cost. instead of replacing this and that on a gst your just buying basically the same upgraded stuff to make the gs handle that power and boost level. The only thing beyond what the gst takes to get there that the gs requires in forged internals and a few other basic turbo compnents. i just cant find much else you wouldnt buy for a gst anway to get there. And I dont see the cost of the internals and what not brdging the gap in origional cost or sentimental value your n/t might have to you. Oh and if you disagree with me dont just say ok your stupid everyone buy a gst anyway. all i ask is that you disagree with me in a way that tells me why. peace

EDIT: I know some of the prices arnt perfect and im prolly forgettin sum shiz on both but im tired and this list i made up real quick represents my basic opinion on this matter. a turbo manifold i know i forgot. peg on 100-250 for that on the gs side. peeps feel free to chime in on what needs added or is just plain wrong. thanks peace

although i do think if you're gonna subscribe to the theory that you should sell the n/t in favor of the turbo, at least make it an awd. i can see that trade off.
unfortunately, turbo kits are expensive, but it is completely within the realm of the doable.

its not hard beating a M3 with an RS. All you have to do is study DSM's on the internet for 4 months. Then buy an 8k Garage with a hydrolic lift then be like jake and mod the hell out of your RS and run 12.7 seconds with it killing M3's in the process.

You obviously have atleast 210 hp even if you didnt do internals and the RS is really light M3's are pretty fast but with bad driving and it being heavy i think you could have actually won GOOD JOB COOL KID.

But even still 0-60 in 9 seconds.... vs like a mini-van for example... I think the mini van will keep up. Against a bmw 3 series which puts out about 190hp give or take vs a whopping 135hp 420A motor that's if the motor is in perfect condition... hard to believe. I'll believe it when I see the video.

The whole CAI and exhaust thing was just a joke!

Yo Harder Faster i also seen the muffler from a turbocharged dsm, but my question to you is: Did you just replace your stock exhasut with a turbo exhaust, or did you just cut the muffler off and weld it on to a custom exhaust that is 2.5 or bigger?

It's got a low and deep tone. Sounds sick when i'm crusing the freeway. IMO, i think it's perfect.

I can't stand the loud whinning high pitch sound. Drives me nutts.
