I have a 88 Dx and when i turn to the left kind of hard. There is a pretty bad clunk on the right side. Just one big slam somewhere on the right front side of the car. Its almost like the whole car is shifting over and hitting. Do i have some kind of weird play in the suspension? Whats wrong with this thing?

Sounds like an axle problem, they start clunking when they get old.

mine have about 7k on them... they clunk. why? because the boot ripped some how. i only spent about $70 on that one but the work is a pain in the ass, not that it is hard but you have to take all that shit apart.

Axles are pretty easy to fix, and not to spendy, only $70 or so for the parts.

also check your tie rod ends where they connect to the rack&pinion, and at the outer joints too. Mine went bad at the rack&pinion joint, and it sounded like it was a similar deal. So it's one of the two, axles or tie rods.

It sounds like your cv boot. I'd rather replace the whole axles. Its only 10 dollar difference.
